Is it possible: C6 Transaxle in a ZR-1
Lets face it better 60 ft times and we could all hang pretty close with a newer C6s. That said given all the expertise on this forum, as displayed by all the 440(1)/stroker engines being built, etc. Sans spare tire could one build a rear transaxle Z. The torque tube might be an issue but between Jeffvette, Al, Pete, RHanselman, and all of the spare Zs phrogs has lying around is it possible or a train wreck waiting to happen.

Weight over the rear of the car would create better balance, improved traction, basically the same reason GM put it back there on the C6.

very tough to do as the c6 uses a torq tube and the c4 uses a torq arm.
a bit more feasible is to shed weight from the front cf hood move the battery to the pass side compartment behind seat get rid of othe air pump stuff in the nose lightweight headlights (like the snake skinner) it lowers the overall weight and improves balance. some turbos out back (raptor) might balance it out a bit better too!

The torque tube is not the issue. It's where the trans and diff come together and how the rear cradle mounts to the frame. The bi issue is the tunnel is not wide enough to house the trans that far back. And I believe the rear tub would need to be butchered as well.

Lee,i think it would open up a can of worms.
I'm always open for new R&D and would volenteer my labor but this one would go way over budget. I agree with Ron K, spend the money on other light weight parts. Heck there's almost 200lbs that could come off the front end. Pete
