As much as I would like to see a multi-valve engine in the performance versions of the C8, there is a perverse pride in having the only DOHC Corvette with our C4 ZR-1s.

As for 800-1000HP, are we getting to the point where it is only a number? Because I cannot see how that power gets to the ground effectively (or without someone killing themselves).

That’s why they have those driving schools. For most of the older generation, they should be happy with the Z51, unless you still think of yourself as a promising race car driver. But if money is no object wait for the C8 ZR1.

With the advent of a completely new platform, I welcome GMs embrace
of the DOHC architecture for its “halo” product. It now directly connects the
C4 ZR w the future of Corvette. I don’t think our cars lose their uniqueness and GM now has both FE and ME implementations of the DOHC in their portfolio.
I have always believed that in order for our community to continue its vitality, we need to welcome this diversity. The new generation of Corvette buyer that the ME is clearly aimed at should get an opportunity to understand and appreciate the world beating “provenance” it has w the C4 ZR in its history.

As for hp, I’d be happy w the 600hp NA version as a great combo for street/track
duty.

Observation:

Many who buy these 650hp and up cars will never even nearly fully explore their capability.

Many think they have morphed into Mario Andretti after a dozen hours of training. (they did not)

That kind of hp is near useless except:
1- on the track with a competent driver
2- for distance peeing contests among the boys
3- for those who relish converting $1,000.00 of tires into smoke
4- for the bold or old guys who park their sports car and walk into the gym and ask the cute instructor which is the best machine they should use to get a date with someone like her, and she points to the ATM.
5- for guys and gals who know that they cannot safely explore it's power, and have the discipline not too, but just feel good knowing it's under their foot, and could care less about the emblems.

If you are 1 or 5 buy the car.
Just thoughts; your mileage may vary.

Good point about getting that power to the ground.....Will we be running slicks on these cars in a few years.....?? What happens when you get caught in the rain with those tires or a sudden drastic drop in temp ? Call AAA for a tow home ? Lol..

Yes, they are my go to using a flatbed, especially when the car has to go to the shop. If it’s running, you can drive it. Only If you’ve grown up with snow and ice storms!
