They will not want to hang with older corvettes like ours. I can just see it now when someone asks them which zr1, do you own. They will say the new one and that you cant compare the two.

I say

Since this is Zr1 forum and not ZR1 C4 , i dont see any reason to discard new Zr1 car. BUT at this time its to early, we should wait ,
and when the new Zr1 owners request to join Zr1 Forum, then Z factor can deside to put new section for them !

when our C4 Zr1 , it came different from L98 C4 , from Door to A$$ it was wider and square tail lights!! and Different engine platform.

So the Normal C4 owners try to fake the Zr1 ,since then GM itself fake the Zr1 in 1991 by using rear Zr1 style in late C4 production (91-96)!!

but now, we saw That new Zr1 fake C6Z06 ,
is it wider?? NO !
is it different engine? NO !.
so I dont see any reason that C6Z06 owners going to fake new Zr1 , cuz it hasnt got anything makes it unique !!

Give them their own section, to talk about their cars.
but include them in our gathering events, which could help offset
costs on track rentals, and improve participation. the more the merrier.
How many do you realisitically think will bial on the CF and DC sites to post here, with little to no knowledge on those cars existing on this site other than pure speculation. We can barely get a regular crowd of 15 to keep posting over here.

I agree, the majoity of new ZR1 owners will stay at CF, more than likely they will get their own section anyway. All the LS based stuff is over there and on the LS1 tech boards so I dont see this becoming an issue.

Being a new member here & to the ZR1, I realize my opinion wont have much bearing, but overall, I say no. I think the ZR1 is a legendary car/engine package. The efforts, trials & tribulations that belong to the legacy are what made it a legacy today. A living legend if you will.

Lets see the new ZR1 set some new records and check its performance longevity. Just because its labeled a ZR1, doesnt automatically make it a legend. Thats something to be earned & that only time will tell.
just my .02

Jeff,

We can speculate. If we think like this, it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. I suggest we give it a shot.
