a pantera dinner and sweet revenge !!!
well there is this loud mouthed guy in my home town that beats up on everybody . i allways wished i could have raced him to shut him up , as he allways is making fun of everyones cars .well i am cruizing on 395 comming home for turkey dinner when about 60 miles from home i see in my rear view mirror a pantera he gets closer and i think no way thats clyde ,but he pulls up next to me and it is so we slow to 30 as there is no traffic ans off we go and by 120 i got him by 4 cars he tries me 3 times with the same result. the story gets better as that fri a bunch of my old buds come over to the house saying clyde wants to takke me on at our old 1/4 mile spot . well after listening to my mom ***** me out my dad says lets go shut the big outh up . so off we go . so with 50 people out there I smoke him by 5 cars twice and he leaves with his tail between his leggs as i am getting high 5s from the guys and my dad having the proudest look on his face . this is one thanksgiving i will remember for ever my car a fully ported zr1 with headers and 410s . car has run a best 11.35 @123ph @ famoso in bakersfield. long live the king . zr1s still are way cool cars

A modded Pantera dinner MMM good!
there is alottery wiinner in bishop that braggs on his very modded pantera .its suppose to be the fastest car in bishop 60 miles north. well having made a job change again back to the old golf course job that i found I loved. but thats another story. well i am coming back from bakersfield with 300 lbs of fertilizer in the car . i go to turn on the lightsand one doesnt come up. So I pull off and open up the clam and a wire is stopping it . So i fix that and am just dropping the clam and ihear this roar go by . I spin around and its that Pantera that everyone talks about. so off i go about 2 miles ahead I catch up ,he seem to slow thinking i am a chp maybe so i shift into 4th blast by ,hopefully letting him knowthat I wanta play, so I slow shift into 4 th . the first ime i kinda jump the gun . but i notice he doesnt gain on me I slow again and this time he hits it first but low and behold by the top of 4th I am 2 cars ahead and going strong .i hit 120 and slow .he pulls up next to me and we go again with the same result . then he slows to 30 and off we go . till 55 we are evn i hear him shift and he falls a car back and by 120 i am 3-4 cars ahead well i slow wxpecting him to motion me to pull over but he just zooms by. well i get home an hr later and have 15 messages on my machine from buddies in bishop telling me about this guy complaing that I jumped him.but that I had a fast car . so we set up a 1/4 mile race last night . thank god for small towns with not enough cops . we raced twice (with about 50on lookers) well he got e out of the gate but i pulled by him hard and by the end of the 1/4 got him by 2 cars both times . i had my Gtech hooked up times were 12.18 @118.79 and 112.75 @119.62 A4000et eelevation . the group of car guys there pronounced me king of ownes valley. kinda strange feeling as its been a hard week getting banned from the forum by a person who bald faced lied about me . god sure is an interesting guy how did he know this was just what I needed to bring e out of the doldroms even if it was a tad illegal. Man i love these cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yup thats me . posted updated times on this one the 11.35@123.03 was the best of 3 runs 2 week ago @ sacramento 2 prevous runs were 12.03@122.65 and 11.71@122.68 . after the 11.35 was told i couldnt run anymore till i installed A ROLLBAR. the mods are a fully ported stk blk jeal headers my own design custom exhaust , fully heim jointed rear suspension set up by dick gulstrand. (he a genius). disconnected frnt sway bar. the porting was done by corey henderson (injector housings and plenum heads done by troy bowen of F.P.S.. he builds some nasty modular ford motors. steve ridout of power train dynamics did the tune . car had 409.9 rwhp and 373.3tq tested @ corey hendersons a year ago before the head work and 461.2 , 402.3 after the head work . the real improvement is in the 60 ft . bestwas 2.03 now1.51before the porting best was 11.88 @ 119.02 @ famoso in aug. in 85 deg weather.if you would like to see it run I will be @ famoso jan20 private rental only a 100 cars. from 9to 5 oh yeah tires mt et streets run @ 14lbs . dicks rear end setup makes all the difference in the world . now i can leave @ 5k ,but now wonder when things will start breaking in the rear end .let me know if you want to come ill make sure you get in . well off to texas ffor xmas . merry xmas everyone

well ron , i will bet you that the car runs 11.60s at famoso on the 20th . how many times did i invite you to come with me and even offer to let you drive it for yourself. if you had stayed in touch more i could have let you know what was going on with the car . my car in its current stae doesnt run any better than petes thats fully ported . in fact his times are with 3.45s in the rear . we just have worked on our launch techniques and shifting .. i haved had tons of talks with ranger and used his guidence tto improve . my g-tech has a very nice program that show many things .wheel spin time of shift .etc .. using this program i have been able to optimize my leave rpm and shift rpm . which by the byis different for every gear and lower than one might think . but after all this is america you are intitled to your doubts. but dont bet your car buddy you might need to sell it to keep afloat so i hear . To end this i will say all i am doing is shareing what happened and I race my car for me not to try to brag on this site . too bad you never took me up on any of my offers maybe you wouldnt be so doubtfull. merry xmas i am off to texas . and take care

You both seem to be describing an awfully similar event. I'd have to think this Clyde guy would have wised up after the first beating? Or did Clyde give his Pantera to some relation after the first beating by Jon, a relation whom you, brad, then raced?

I wonder what PeteZR-1 would say about it. I know his is a stock displacement and ran an 11.2 @ 125mph this fall at Great Lakes.

petes still the king of a stk displacement zr1. i have the benifit of having 410s and some major rear suspension work by dick gulstrand who relly knows these cars. petes times were with the stk 3.45 rear gears . i can only wonder how fast he would go with my 410s and my rear suspension set up. finally i wasnt trying to ruffle any feathers just share what the car has run in its present state . i think that the suspension is the real thing here as my 60fts have gone from 2.02 . to 1.5-1.73heck the car ran 11.88 in aug with the 202 60 ft . that was before troy ported the heads which he did for free as a favor to me in return of some things i did for him. he also showed me how to set the cam timming which really isnt very hard if the motor is out of the car and one takes their time .As I said before i will be at famoso on jan 20 so that i have a same track comparo. i hear that sac preps their track better . to all a great holiday season

Those are some killer ET's.
I have a question about your cam timing,did you pin them or degree them in a different location,if so where did you put them?
I played with cam timing on mine with a 20rwhp loss to a 30rwhp gains.
I still think there might be more in cam timing.
