93 wheels questions?
Was doing my daily search on Craigslist and found a set of ZR-1 wheels. I talked to guy and he told me they came off of his 93 years ago. (Around 96 ish) he wrecked the car later with other wheels and these things have literally been in storage since.
I picked them up figuring someone on the forum would want a set of original wheels. (They do have the gm wheel marks on them) Few questions. How do I verify they are 93 wheels? From what I understand 93 was a 1 year only wheel. If they are 93 wheels. What is a fair price for a complete set? (I'm hoping I didn't over pay) didn't seem right to just let them sit in storage any longer. Worst case I have a spare set for my 91. Lol If they are 91/92 wheels what is their value? Thanks for help. I'm cleaning them up. I'll post pics soon |

Re: 93 wheels questions?
93 sawblades are the only ones with a machined outer surface. 91-92 are painted.
Price? I've seen 400 - 1800 depending on condition. Not sure if anyone ever sold for $1800, but I've seen them advertised for that. If I was still in the market for such wheels, I'd pay $800 - $1200 for a mint set.

Re: 93 wheels questions?
These definitely aren't painted. They look almost polished... does that make sense?

For '93 wheels I'd expect maybe ACX and ACY on the 9 1/2" wheels. On the 11" I've seen AHA mentioned for a R/R. I've never attempted to confirm any of these for a '93 machined face "saw-blade". Someone with wheels could confirm from theirs. I don't believe the actual wheel codes were on the build sheets in '93. Last edited by WVZR-1; 03-26-2017 at 03:51 PM. |

Re: 93 wheels questions?
The spokes appear to be different in the 93 as well. Or is it just me? The ones I have and the 93 pictured have what appears to be a flat top spoke. Where as the 91/92 seem to be rounded. Is this just me or is that accurate?

Re: 93 wheels questions?
That is my impression too. The 93 spokes are machined flat, where the 91-92 are just cast.
To ensure correct identification, checking the wheel-code inside of the wheel as WVZR-1 suggest, would probably be the best way.

Re: 93 wheels questions?
Must be wheel day on the Forum; I just had an exchange on sawblades on another post. As noted, the 93s are unique in that they have the machined-face finish. The machining makes the "spoke" less rounded or more pronounced than the painted 91 and 92 sawblades. The fronts are common to all Corvettes for the 93 model year, but the wider ZR-1 rears are extremely rare. I searched high and low in 2011-12 for a single rear and could not find one. I finally found a full set of 93 wheels still in the boxes and happily paid $2,500 for the lot.

Re: 93 wheels questions?
A complete set, still in boxes is a pretty awesome find. Couldn't find anything like that when I was looking for a set.

Re: 93 wheels questions?
The ones I picked up are straight however they are far from mint. Looks like they need some restoration attention. I think I'm gonna throw them up for sale for sale in the sale section. I just wanted to save them from the fate they had. If someone could find a use for them and bring them back to life that's totally worth it to me. You guys think $500 plus shipping for them is fair for wheels that need some work?
