1990 zr-1 help!!!
Hi, I'm not very good at introductions so I'll keep it short.
I picked up a 1990 zr-1....wanted it (lusted) for a while... it was sitting outside for two years...Its not a basket case. The previous owner claims that he emptied the gas tank of all old fuel a year ago...I put new gas in the tank and tried to fire it up White smoke came out of the intake and exhaust, the engine stuttered them died check engine came on. would not start since...it turns over with intention but no ignition. Could it be a sensor ...the intake has a some black soot and so does the throttle body. |

Re: 1990 zr-1 help!!!
First off, I would never try to start an LT5 of unknown history (especially one that apparently has not been started in two years if that is what you mean by "sitting outside") without first checking/replacing all fluids. Then a compression check, Then some more checks on plugs, injectors and vacuum system pump cycling. A Fuel rail/system that has dried out because of non use may have additional issues.
LT5/ZR-1 Fluids White smoke indicates moisture. I would stutter also after sitting outside for two years Also.....how many miles on the 1990? Run a Check Engine Code Check......you might find all sorts of Codes after sitting outside for two years including O2 sensors, INFL REST, and several others. Welcome to the Forum Lots of guys here will be talking your ear off after we get a bit more feed back from you on the Codes, and if in fact this LT5 has not been run in two years

Re: 1990 zr-1 help!!!
Corrosion between the ground and bolts I suppose....Thats the least of my worries...I will be doing a top end refresh...the plug boots look dry and corroded inside. I could have a spark problem.

Re: 1990 zr-1 help!!!
"infl rest" is a contraction of "Inflatable Restraint" and as Dyno points out, this light refers to the airbag systems.
