Single Mass Flywheels
Is the ram flywheel plug and play or does it require a new clutch and other components to make it work?
I see Jerry has one that is "plug and play" with the original components, but is about 5 lbs. heavier. The cluch in my car is relatively new and am not looking to replace it. Thanks.

See my thread
http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=25865 Didn't work out as expected. My clutch is still slipping (or it least it was in the fall). Haven't decided on a coarse or action yet. |

Re: Single Mass Flywheels
I am aware of the noise and so forth. Jerry's option seems to be the best from what I can see if it is indeed "plug and play" so to say.
Just doing some double checking.

Re: Single Mass Flywheels
If you read my thread, mine was definately not plug and play.
And I have a lot of rattle, I don't blame that on Ram. |

I was going to sell but I kept getting low offers just because of a busted transmission. It just so happened that a forum member was passing through and had a black tag zf-6 out of a '90 for a good price so I picked it up. So I spent some more money on the car and will be enjoying the car some more!

The RAM 13# Flywheel requires RAM Pressure Plate, Disc & Hydraulic Release bearing, i.e. the entire RAM conversion from "pull-release" to "push-release." I had new, aluminum billet flywheels made to the same dimensional specification as the stock, iron dual mass flywheel. They are available in 18# & 22#, the idea being to fill in the gap between the ultra light 13# flywheels (Fidanza, McCloud) and the stock dual mass weighing in at 37.5#. NOTE: The 18# & 22#, will readily use the stock clutch system disc, pressure plate & release bearing and retain the exact same fork geometry as the stock flywheel. If you are looking for a lighter flywheel and keeping your stock clutch then either of these will work for you, especially if you are looking for a little more mass than the 13# units. They are good alternatives for replacement of the stock dual mass units, which are expensive and becoming more scarce. Being heavier than the really lightweight units should dampen the engine impulse a little more and result in corresponding difference in transmission rattle.
