What's the best way to disable the antenna?
Title says it all. My new after market radio puts the antenna up regardless of the input source. Drives me crazy. I never listen to terrestrial radio.

Can't you just unplug the antenna from the radio?

My radio does not work....so im not sure about the zr1.
my 94 Lt1 had a plug under the trim that surrounds the bottom edge of the hatch...only a few screws. Was easier than pulling the radio |

Yeah...Or, you could just leave the antenna up and park the car near any high school. (I guarantee your antenna will not driver you crazy after that!!)

How did you wire in the aftermarket radio? There is a blue wire at the radio tuner box you can disconnect

Didn't know if there was something easier or more convenient than pulling the radio.

What year car? The radio receiver OEM wiring is easy to get to without pulling radio

Re: What's the best way to disable the antenna?
Most of the after markets sell a bypass switch. It's just a wire splice on the passenger side. It comes with a switch that I mounted in my center console. When I want to listen to the radio I just flip the switch and the antenna goes up. I did it because I got tired of it going up and down when listening to CD's.

push it down while it's up. It will destroy the ribbon and there ya go. Though I would like to find a way to keep it from going up on my 90 when listening to tapes
