Where do you find one of those "broken hood release cable tools"?

Or.....I was looking under the hood from the windshield side and I think I can see how a hook can be made to latch on to the release.
One tool would work for both sides.

Both of the Hood Opening Tools on Ebay say you just insert tool on Drivers side? What about Passenger Side Latch?

Then did as Dynomite suggested and then pressure washed the engine, engine compartment and wheel wells. If we had listened to what the fire department said, the car would have been exactly that. They said DO NOT try to put out the fire or try to get anything out of the car. It took them 10 minutes to get there, a distance of 1-1/2 blocks, the fire had been out for at least 9 and a half minutes by then, even with the stuck hood. To their credit, they didn't insist on prying or cutting the hood open. The guy in charge said he didn't want to do any more damage to the car. They didn't have to do anything, they did try to open the hood with the release handle. I will install the hood release cables while I'm fixing the damage.

The tool pulls both sides Cliff however its not a practical solution during a fire. More Like dang I broke the cable let me fish this tool in for a few minutes types of moments. I have one of these as well and it takes a little practice and angeling to use it correctly and successfully. The emergency pulls for each side is the way to go during these emergency type events. Time is not on your side during a fire. GC

Excellent point.......but damn.....how many of us would experience a fire?
OK.....I will make some cables up like you suggest and no need for a tool which I am sure If I had a fire I would stick the tool in some place and get it jammed

I could make my own cables but hard to beat this price when considering my time driving around getting parts and making up the cables........

Guess I make my own..........I am going to use 3/32 gas welding rod. I will get final dimensions and couple of photos of emergency hooks that work best tomorrow.
