GC,

you would also need the guide rod for the 90-91 if it is even feasible. I have my windows pretty solid without them and have one very minor leak in rain.. I am quite happy with the how the windows turned out for fitting on my car.

Also removed the "cover, plate" from the door to have more room to work. Took way longer than expected, but the job is done, and the window works great. Broken piece was in the bottom of the door, I just don't understand how these parts break like they do......
Next up, LS which should be much easier to install......

Great pics, However what are the attachment points (Top and Bottom) of this plastic rod?

GC.. I am guessing a different hole int he bottom that might be there on our cars

But the top is the left most bolt head you see in this pic..

Not sure there is an advantage to adding these to older cars though

Thanks......I did not even pay attention to the rod attachments, other than that the bottom of the rod is attached to the bottom of the door. I don't even know how I didn't realize that the earlier models did not have the rod or the guide???
If I get back into the door panel before anyone else does, will let you know....

Tom,
my guess is a 3rd bolt head along the bottom of the door.. the other 2 are the window regulator.. when you get a chance run you hand along the bottom and check.. I am 99% sure I pegged the top bolt based on your pictures

Jeff,
I am sure you got the top bolt correct, and did run my hand along the bottom to get the old guide out, and felt the rod bottom, but did not even think about the attachment....hopefully I'll get the driver's side checked out soon, and will check.
I still don't understand how that part took so much abuse!!!

PS....on a side note, I was amazed how how good the inside of the door looked for the age and considering the number of owners this vehicle has had and its history...

We should all pitch in and buy that freakin' socket ($60) and just pass it around as we all need it. It really is tough to do without it. Possible to do but I bet I spent at least an hour just on that.

David, I hear you on that. ...but if you reread my post, the snap ring pliers worked within minutes to remove that bolt compared to the hour or so that I also spent trying to remove that bolt. And your idea of buying that freakin socket is a great idea. ....

Like I said in my previous post, I ended up using a small set of 90 degree needle nose pliers. I was afraid I was going to break the tips off of my snap ring pliers so I switched to the needle nose.

The Club should buy all of these special tools and loan them out for a PP deposit equaling the cost of replacement plus $10. I would've gladly paid $10 to borrow that socket.

Yes, did see that on page 1, I guess we were lucky as the snap ring pliers worked great for us. What a design????? It would have been better if they just put a nut on the other side.....

Good idea on the loan program, that way everyone would use the correct tool for the job.....
