I didn't know there's a thermostat in the oil line ...

The oil T-stat opens 190-195* so if your oil temps never got this hot you might still have factory oil in your oil cooler.
I took the cooler off my Z and my oil temps stay around 180* Secondaries will open at any RPM at WOT. Pete
