Looking for cutaway pic of Corsa Muffler
Been looking for a cutaway pic of a Corsa Muffler with the duel tips. I interested in how much flow actual goes to the second tip? I know one is a straight thru. All I find are cutaway's of single outlet. Any info. from you guys that have them would be great. I have a set of them on the way with the new black tips.

Re: Looking for cutaway pic of Corsa Muffler
Thanks Jeff, I sent a message to Corsa and they replied all 4 tips are open, But one of them is more for the balance of the tone. They also would not release any information on the flow. From your pics this open/flow looks to be questionable.

Re: Looking for cutaway pic of Corsa Muffler
From there site (The black PVD material looks like black chrome)
http://www.pvdcoatings.org/l http://www.corsaperformance.com/blacktips/ I will install them at home, Right now I have flowmasters with cats. I have to pass Ga. emissions first and one more time next year. Its not to much trouble just to swap them out. The flowmaster set up is welded so its one assembly I will do the same with the Corsa. Just want the extra HP the Corsa and no cats offer. Last edited by We Gone; 12-09-2013 at 08:08 PM. |

Re: Looking for cutaway pic of Corsa Muffler
The closed chamber of the Corsa is a Helmholz resonator that attenuates the resonance at a specific frequency. Our engines generate resonance spikes at about 1,800 and 3,400 rpm with a little also at about 2,400. The stock system uses the same technology. Corsa calls it quarter wave tuning. Essentially, the sound waves go into the closed chamber and based on its size and shape, sound waves of a particular frequency will cancel each other out. I forget which frequency the mufflers deal with, I think the 1,800 one, with the center resonator handling the 3,400 rpm resonance spike. By the time exhaust pressure gets to the muffler, the single pipe is more than enough to flow the gases without much, if any, back pressure. March Haibeck has done a fair amount of testing on exhaust system performance. --Bob

When I got the mufflers, I took emery cloth and took special attention and time to scuff the muffler cans and outlets up to the tips. After properly cleaning and degreasing for any oils, I then painted the cans and outlets up to the tips black with Krylon high heat black. Like you, I think these mufflers will look awesome on our cars. |

Re: Looking for cutaway pic of Corsa Muffler
Well, I'll be! From your link in the first post, I see that Corsa is advertising this setup now. They weren't when I ordered in August/September.
The Corsa rep said that they had made some special order that way in the past, so I wasn't the first one. Corsa isn't allergic to money, so I am sure they'll go wherever there is a demand. |
