Default All the molds for the ZR-1

Just Corvettes in St. Louis owner told me to let all know that he has the molds for the ZR-1 and is planning to make hoods and bumpers for the ZR-1 soon.

I asked if he could do the whole rear for the ZR-1 and he said he could since he has the all of the molds.

He said if any one has any questions just to call him.

From WVZR-1

Dan is a pretty good fellow and I've done a couple projects with him. He'll be at Carlisle and carries standard body quarter panels with him. His quarters are laid up just like OE down to the green glue! Dan was negotiating for the C5 tooling also and I think that would generate production much faster than some of the body panels we might like to see!

Dan told me that he thought the ZR-1 was worth his effort to produce parts for from his molds since the ZR-1 community is large and want to keep the KOTH alive and well.

You need to understand your interest was ZR-1 and I've had that conversation with him last year and the year before. I've seen the QC from GM on his C4 hood and his intentions were to do both the '84 and the later hood and do them as the original that would be prior to '92 when the H/L reinforcement changed I believe. Our conversation included the dog legs, the door panels, lock pillar extensions etc for the ZR-1.

Now if the next fellow that stepped up wanted to talk C5 parts, the conversation would be as entertaining as yours except it would be a C5 conversation.

I believe each part requires separate licensing after samples pass a GM QC evaluation. It's not I've got molds - let's git after it!

Okay I know I'm a bit slow most of the times, but you guys are doing an "April Fool's Day" in August....right?

Or did GM actually let someone buy our body molds?

I am just the messenger and all should call Dan the Man (Just Corvettes) and get the details from him direct since he was the one talking about doing the ZR-1 parts to me.

I have no idea about the specific details and GM blessings and approval etc.

My only guess is that perhaps Dan is going to do something like "Toledo Hood" does
http://www.toledopro.com/vette-hoods.html
and perhaps offer "upgrade ZR-1 parts".

To be clear all he told me was about hoods and bumpers.

I was the one who asked about a whole rear end package.

Dan's answer was that he had all the molds and that ZR-1 owners should contact him direct for more details on potential solutions and future ZR-1 specific parts.

Glad he's doing this so I don't have to do it. I will be doing the rear bumper though.
