Default changing antenna mast

Does anyone remember which way the teeth on the ribbon point? I've read conflicting posts. Some say towards the front and some say towards the drivers side.

TIA,
Mike

I don't recall from when I did mine - but you will probably find a piece of the broken mast lodged inside the mechanism (as I did) that will tell you.

If it's the actual antenna mast that was broken, a replacementmast can be replaced from the top. If the ribbon was broken, the antenna must be removed, drive gear casing opened and broken ribbon retrieved before the new mast can be installed.

Thanks guys. The ribbon came out complete on the side of route 95 after I used it to kill a bird at 80 mph. The teeth do in fact face the drivers side. Unfortunately I destroyed the 22 year old grommet. It's looking like those are zr1 specific. Does anyone know where to get one?
