Default Replacement Keys

Is there a good vendor to purchase the VAT ignition and door key blanks from?

I would probably shop a local dealer. The dealer can "drop" your key to ID the VATS resistance and confirm the blank is a match before cutting it. Most dealers will have the OE blank but NOT all do! Check it first, you want a blank from a GM package or if it's a "Briggs & Stratton/Stattec" package that would be fine also. Retail is something near $24 for the OE less for the B&S. All OE and the B&S VATS blanks will be "padded". The door, likely not but the dealer might likely have the pads for the door blanks.

An eBay buy for a VATS is usually $14 - $18 plus the ship! Then it needs to be what you expected after you receive it and you need to get it cut! The only less expensive on eBay is a resistance code 1. There isn't a ZR-1 out there with a 1.

A $20 buy for a cut OE key would be a good buy I'd think!

A quality "lock shop" would likely have the Briggs & Statton or Strattec. You could call and price!

My local ACE Hardware has a reader all you need is an original key. Once they read it they can cut you a key. About $20

Went to the local dealer. They confirmed my VAT code that I determined with an ohms meter and cut me a key. Ignition and door key out the door $45.00.

Thanks for the help.
