Fellas;

I have a '90 ZR1 with 6800mi on it. The last 3 digits of the VIN are 988, leading me to beleive it was the 988th ZR1 manufactured. I spoke with both the origional owner yesterday and the dealership in which it was serviced until 2009 and they were under the assumption it was one of the first ZR1's sold in Florida. The orig owner said there was a sticker near the windshield with "76" on it which he thought meant it was the 76th ZR1 built.

What are your opinions?

Last 4 digits of vin is the unit number, i.e., yours is the 988th built.
While it might indeed be the first ZR1 to be sold in Florida, it was not the 76th ZR1 made.
I have no idea what the "76" signifies, could be pretty much anything.

last 4 of the vin is the number of your car.

I have 1990 VIN #566 and was completed on Oct 27, 1989; delivered to dealer in St. Petersburg, FLA on Nov 20 and picked up by new owner on Nov 21. According to early owner it was the first ZR-1 delivered in Florida. Dunno, but was an early delivery.

When car was coming off the assembly line they would grease pencil in the 'build date' on the lower driver side hood...most of these marks were cleaned off or wore away with time... mine survived and I have sprayed over with clear acrylic to protect>>



And at the top of the hood is the dealership stock number (6898) and date placed in inventory>>

It's more likely #2988 judging by your avatar. 2988 is a black car. The other two cars ending in 988 are red and green.

you cars number is whatever is after the Zeros in the vin like mine is #845 I owned #354 as well and it came from Florida but was not sold in Florida as far as I know.

I really should get a better avatar pic.. my car is green but the photo is small and its hard to tell..

Then it would appear to be #0988. Which, as everyone said, would make it the 988th production ZR-1 built.
