I agree. A single cam ZR1 with pushrods forget it. And the thought of trying it with a 368 385 or 415 is ify, ify also because nobody really know how durable those really are either.

I think the LS9 was put through testing that would make 24 hrs seem like a walk in the park. The whole car hasn't been tested at full throttle for that much time, but I think the engine is ready to go.

I agree...I think that motor would handle it. We Americans are the ones that can't handle it. No one is willing to step up and try it. We could make a big media spectacle of the thing and GM could do it. It would be hugely positive press...Now that would cost millions, but if we pulled it off, thing how big it could be for GM. Jesse James took the record for the fastest Zero Emisions Vehicle from BMW with one really smart guy, Big Stuff 3, and a Chevy motor. That was pretty cool stuff. He did like 199 in that POS!

I wonder if we could find a ls9 car with a salvage title?? That would make it cost effective.

Maybe im a little slow here but I thought the reason the record run was done was because GM needed a huge shot in the arm after coming out of the dog years of low hp vettes. Why would GM risk getting egg on their face if this new LS9 fails. They don't need it. Plus all vettes make lots of hp now. There are no dogs. Just because the LS9 made it around the ring in just over 7.26 it still only reached maybe 175 in a few spots. That's hardly pushing the engine at 205mph for 5000 miles straight which is what its top speed is. The ring was more a combination of handling and acceleration than anything. The LT5 was nothing like any other engine ever put in a vette. The LS9 platform is more similar to the LS7 than it is different from it.
