Those are the 993 Porsche Calipers. Commonly referred to as "Big Reds"
They will fit, but when you look at the hat, they are much thicker and will push the wheel out further. |

Re: do these brake calipers and rotors fit our cars
for the fronts I think lm getting the whole joint in the deal as you see it....then hopefully just fit in between my A arms (thats the hope anyway)
Q....is there an issue with pushing the wheel out on that hub or should l just strip of the rotors and calipers and fit to my Z stock assembly (if they do that is) and is there any major braking improvement to be expected or am l just wasting time and money with this |

When you buy the system from Guido or his suppliers for the C4, they provide rotor hats that are thick enough for the caliper to clear your specific wheels. The outward spacing for the 91 wheels is about 7/8", and for the 94 wheels about 3/8". I don't know about the 90 wheels. The braking is impressive and in the many years I used this system on the track, I never faded the brakes. Replacement rotors and pads are for a twin turbo 993 Porsche and pretty pricey. Pay your money and take your choice. For street use and bragging rights, save your money - use the stock C5 calipers and rotors (or just keep it stock).

I was under impression that C6 calipers (They look like Brembo) would not fit a 1991 ZR1 and that C5 calipers WOULD fit a 1991 ZR1 without changing the rotor I am not sure if the brake bads are larger on the C5 calipers or if C5 calipers give you more braking than standard ZR1 calipers. The C5 calipers I have seen on ZR1s definitely look nicer being red and having Corvette stamped on them in white letters. I painted my ZR1 calipers red

Will the 933 "type" Porsche Calipers from a C6 as per picture above fit a 1991 ZR1 if you change rotors? I assume the red brake calipers from a C5 stamped "Corvette" will fit a 1991 ZR1 without changing rotors or other hardware including brake lines?

Re: do these brake calipers and rotors fit our cars
You first need to find our exactly what you are trying to buy. I and Jeff think those are Porsche 993 calipers but I don't know what they are being used on now. They probably came from this source:

Re: do these brake calipers and rotors fit our cars
Not sure what all the confusion is. They are shown currently bolted up to a later C4.
Those are the 993 Porsche Brembo calipers. They are a radial mount which gives you a bigger cross section to be applied to. They are a 4 piston design. These bear no resemblance to the Brembo calipers on the current C6 ZR1 which are a 6 piston design. |
