Quick Q: Clutches...
IF I need to do anything about my clutch, NOW would be the time!
1) (Pardon me Pete), I don't remember the new and the "go, no-go" thickness of the (stock) clutch disc. If someone has those measurements, and mine is more than halfway to the good side, I'll forego further expen$e for now and reinstall what I have. 2) Other than the racket resulting from a single mass FW, is there anything I should know about if I attempt to reinstall my existing (used but good?) disc and pressure plate to a new (Fidanza?) FW? What about balancing the whole works and where in the Chi-town area would someone be able to do the balancing if necessary? 3) I heard that AutoZone is a good source for clutch (pressure plate, disc, & TO bearing) replacements for our Zs, no? Thanks in advance! P.

Re: Quick Q: Clutches...
Carolina Clutch Stage 2 for aluminum flywheels.
http://carolinaclutch.com/ShowItem/1...tch%20Kit.aspx Also, if you are installing the stock clutch on an aluminum flywheel, I would highly recommend a sprung hub clutch disc rather than the stock LT5 solid disc. You will have vibration throughout the drivetrain and car and the sprung hub takes some of the vibrations out of the car that the dual mass flywheel soaked up. I understand that a clutch disc from a Camaro will work for our application. Splines and diameters must be the same. 1 1/8 in. Diameter Shaft, 26-Spline, 11 in. Diameter Disc http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CTF-384148/ I am sure others more knowledgeable than me will pipe in.

Re: Quick Q: Clutches...
One other thing. The guy that bought #458 called with some kind a problem with the clutch. It was an Autozone-Duralast brand with only about 12,000 miles on it. Wouldn't budge. He removed the master cylinder hoping it was a dislocated piston or something. No go. Problem must be inside the bellhousing. Still waiting to hear about the problem. Maybe a finger broken. The car was running fine, he stopped for gas and when he got back in the car, the clutch was solid.
The Duralast clutch has a lifetime warranty, but I would say it wouldn't be worth having to go back into the trans for this kind of problem. Now, Autozone also sells a LUK clutch for our cars.

Re: Quick Q: Clutches...
Paul this is the one I went with on the Fidanza and stock clutch. Not really sure why it was more expensive than the 384148 but it works great. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CTF-381039/
