Clutch pedal effort - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

How stiff is your clutch pedal, I just replaced the Cyl/Slave in the 90 and its got decent pedal pressure, not too fun in heavy traffic, while the 21K mile 92 has a new clutch but original Hyd system is pretty easy to push in.......wondering what you are experiencing. I am going to bleed the 92, but wondering if I should replace the slave? Any possibility the T/O bearing failure could be related to the hyd system?

Just changed the master and slave on my clutch last weekend. Moderate pedal effort, not hard at all. If the pushrods don't line up correctly, I understand that can increase pedal effort. Good luck

Okay, my replacement set up has about 25k on it and it was always a fairly high effort. Actually the effort seems to be fairly constant from the OEM stuff right thru my replacement stuff.

Yes, for sure not much fun if I get caught in B to B in metro/NYC type stuff. I read somewhere that the effort is 80 lbs on the pedal....just can't remember where I read that. I remember thinking, that's a fairly high effort with a hyd assist! My 72 LT-1 had an 80 lb effort with a staright mechanical linkage for the clutch. I can't imagine what our cars would feel like if we had no hyd assist!

Same thing happened to me when I replaced the clutch master and slave, pedal effort went up quite a bit. Hmmm....

Mine too! I've got about 50 miles on the new master and slave with significantly more pressure required than when I purchased the car 12K miles ago.

Okay, so what conclusion can we draw from this informal research survey?

When I r&r'ed my stuff I did it because the M/C rear seal leaked at about 12k miles. I know that my car sat more than wnet anywhere. In 14 yrs the O.O. put 7400 miles on her. I put 5 k on it the first yr I had it. Before it leaked my pedal effort was high, and now with new stuff it's still high. Do we conclude that the wear over long usage makes for less pedal effort due to a by-passing effect from wearing out the seals?
