Default Hurst vs B&M

I know this debate has raged for a while, more so now that the Hurst is hard to find - but I just installed the Hurst in my Z, and I got a good deal on a used B&M Ripper, and looking at the Ripper that arrived today, it looks like it replaces the entire pivot mechanism in the shifter housing. I find it a little odd that everyone seems so biased towards the Hurst, yet there are people who seem fanatical about the B&M. I used to have a Ripper on the T56 in my Camaro, and loved it. Had a hurst in my '01 C5 and '94 C4, and those were nice too, a little more civilized I guess, though less mechanical-feeling. If anyone has 2 cents to throw in, I'm all ears.

I'm very pleased with my stock shifter modified by Bill Boudreau. It has the same feel of stock but with a very noticable shortened throw. Bill cleans up the mechanism for overall smoother operation, shortens the handle 1.3" above the fulcrum and lengthens it 3/8" below. His modification retains the factory reverse lock-out.

When you look at the Hurst and BB&M, you ought to also check out http://www.zfdoc.com/

I had a B&M shifter on my 94 convertible it was very precise and you could beat on it all day.

But on the ZR1 the shifter is just so smooth; I’m going to leave it alone and live with the longer throw.

I have the B&M now for the past 3 yrs (came with the car) I don't which is best but I just picked up a new Hurst at a good price. Should I even bother to switch?
