Finally powdercoater bound.
I finally had time to pull the valve covers off which was the only thing keeping me from taking everything to the powder coaters.
http://s301.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=100_0014.flv. I can't say it's a beer toasting moment because I'm exhausted and it was 100 degrees with 90% humidity today. I was completely soaked and the sweat was burning my eye's. |

Re: Finally powdercoater bound.
your cam covers look just like mine always have theres a litte wear on the cam covers but its normal.
The foam is from you PVC system thats where those tubes plug into. I have always removed the brittle pieces that fall apart and put it back in, Limey sells the foam or he used to have some dont know if he does or not anymore but to expensive for me to replace mine

Are you having your parts powder coated locally in the Houston area? If so, can you recommend someone?

Re: Finally powdercoater bound.
God bless you! In those temps & humidity conditions you must have been spent for sure. I hope it all goes back sweetly & runs & looks great!
Nice set up in the garage, too! I'm envious of the shop air! Just curious. I've done a few sb timing sets over my yrs of driving and why is it that the passenger side is always tighter than the driver's side of the chain? Tom

Re: Finally powdercoater bound.
Billybaloneey I had to completely unbolt the brake booster to move it aside. There just isn't enough room to get a 3/8 drive flex handle with the T-40 on it in there. I'm taking everything to a local place here in Houston http://precisionpowder.net/ I'm just going to go with the original aluminum oxide finish. They quoted me $200-$250 to do the plenum injector housings throttle body and air horn coolant inlets ect. I asked if they can also fill in the lettering but they said no. But they work with a guy right next door that does all of there air brushing work and he can do it. So it will probably end up being in the $300 range.
And I'm guessing the reason the slack in the cam chain is on the drivers side of the car would most likely be (just a guess)because the crank spins in a CCW rotation which would make sense. |
