We've done some work for Simson nitro racing
http://www.simpsonnitro.com/ And I've started to become good friends with one of the crew members Ronnie Wells. He tunes the cars. Helps rebuild the engines and clutches. And builds the chassis. They are off for the next three months until the NHRA nationals start. He stopped by today and invited me to come check out both of there shops. I told him I P/P the 90 ZR-1 And he asked me what I used to gauged the ports with. I told him with a ball gauge I made. He said bring the plenum and I/H to the shop and we will flow test them. "Cool"!
I know that flow is important on the heads. So my question to the tuners/builders on this site for our particular cars is how important is this on the plenum and I/H. In my mind the ball gauge seems to me the most accurate way to measure the type of ports that the Z has. And if I do get them flow tested will I become obsessed with making them all match. Or is it overkill.

What looks good to the eye, might not be that good on the bench flow.
You use the bench to make sure you are going the right way and were you need to improve. my heads are 330cfm and 317 cfm with inj. housing on. A little more work and they will be done.

rick , sounds like a way cool guy bet ya he helps you get them balanced out . he can probably show you the trick way they finish off their ports . i can smell more hp in the air
