Jeff,
If anyone would know, I figure you would have the latest scoop regarding the GT1 next Saturday at LeMans... ...is the event (for factory-sponsored Corvette GT1) a non-happening after all, ...or is it a situation where some/or all big expenses are already paid and therefore "the show must go on"??. I've not heard anything but speculation, but nothing from anyone that would actually know. ![]() P. |

More info at this link http://www.corvetteracing.com/ I had but can't find the links to radio, blogs etc or lost them. The guys at BGACC (Bowling Green Assembly Corvette Club) keep feeding me all the latest info. I'll post the site links here for on-the-spot info as soon as I find them or get another copy from Dave Chrisley, President and co founder of BGACC, who feeds me info. In case you didn't hear about about Corvette and racing in the future the following will ease your mind. General Motors President and CEO Fritz Henderson (Thursday, June 4) did a one-hour live chat to address questions about GM’s court filing and the vision for the New GM. As Corvette owners we are all interested in one of the questions he got and answered, i.e., "Will the Corvette survive as the V8 engined rear wheel drive icon we all love? Fritz Henderson: yes. my wonderful baby is my 2005 corvette coupe. we have more in store for the future and this iconic brand will retain its powerful place within the new gm. Here's the link to the site where all the questions and his answers can be seen. There's a wealth of good things for Corvette in his and answers to the questions... http://fastlane.gmblogs.com/archives/2009/06/webchat_fritz_henderson_answers_your_questions.htm l ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by ZRWON; 06-06-2009 at 11:18 PM. |

The cars/equipment have been over there or in the process of shipping since early May. Johnny O'Connell left Atlanta today heading over. I head over tomorrow and arrive in Le Mans late Monday night. I will update the race section with pictures and what not.

Thanks to both of you!
Jeff, we (I) are looking forward to your pictures. (I keep the silhouette shot of yours taken at Sebring (?) on my "desktop"...Makes me tingly just to look at it. Wish I could be there! (Le Mans) to see it in person.) Well, enjoy! P. P. |

I'd bet you and the others would really enjoy the DVD that Jim Van Dorn is distributing for a contribution to one of his charities if you have not yet ordered your copy. It records the presentation Jim gave to the Vette fans at this years Memorial Day Weekend gathering at the Corvette Museum. In typical JVD fashion he did his presentation different than most others. He showed pictures and videos, some from his personal collection, and talked about them and the events starting with SS, then the years where there was no factory Vette Racing, just advertising hype, then the Corvette Competition races, he and Rippie doing LeMans, getting Dave Hill's support for factory involvement in racing, the Pirate Racing days, etc. I've watched my copy 3 times now and every time I see or hear something knew. I'm glad he made this DVD. It's important guys like Rippie, Graham B, JVD, many more who have done so much for our cars/hobby/sport, leave documentation so future generations of Vette owners will understand the foundations for the heritage of their Vettes. One lesson Jim talks "around" in his presentation is the importance of a parts car. Doug Johnson drove his BEAST to most all Pirate race events. BEAST's parts were more often than not used for repairs to get a Pirate car back on the track. The lesson learned is, never show up in a car with the same parts as the racer. The guy with the wrench exclaims, "Hey, the parts car is here". ![]() |

The 63 and 64 cars were scrutineered yesterday
we'll be arriving at Le Mans Thursday afternoon. Try to get to St Saturnin Friday morning/lunch time if you can.
