Maxton Mile Speed? - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

Anybody have an idea what the MPH at one mile from a standing start would be for our cars?

I have been kicking around the idea of traveling out to Laurinburg NC and doing a high speed run at the "Maxton Mile" that is put on by the East Coast Timing Association (ECTA). An old Army buddy of mine is the ECTAâ€™s Race Director and he has been after me to bring the Beast out there to play.

The speed sets the type of safety equipment required, so I sort of need a ballpark idea.

stock will be around 130 I think

A new C6 standard Vette was clocked at 154mph at the standing mile by Road & Track. That would be a good place to start estimating.

Figure 150 + or - a few. Modded with porting and headers figure high 150's

Well since that Pirate up in BG got ahold of my Beast and did his topend porting along with SW headers, I reckon to be over the 150mph limit where the ECTA requires fullup safety stuff.

Dang...., and I just got the Bose all fixed up for the Delightful & Wonderful Mrs Kari (She Who Must Be Obeyed) to listen to. Hate to pull all of that stuff out to weld in a rollbar.

I wonder what would happen if I showed up and Oops - - - "Didn't know that old C4 would go that fast!"

Ya could always just do that "ooops, darn she's just stock. Didn't think it could get that fast in a mile? Da ya think them headers did that?"

ah what the heck give it a try. its kinda ;like going 11.30 at the strip without a roll bar you go opps and they say by by till you get a bar

I keep waiting for someone to say..."Hold on I will be right back!!!" and then come back with a "Hey I just ran a 152mph in the standing mile using the markers on the expressway" Anyone...
