Has anyone seen this vid. There's never a shortage of ZR-1 drag racing video's. But its nice to see the king aggressivly racing against other fast cars and actually passing them up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbqDS78zeQw

Love watching that...the ZR driver has talent...he was forced off line on several occassions and handled like 'no sweat'...
Also, when you finish watching that go to the ZR1 GT2 Ferrari 599 GTR shootout and then top speed runs... fun but in particular watching the odo role 1 mile after another in seconds =D>

Thanks for the link! That was sweet!

Kudos to that Z driver. He kept it together under some very sticky situations. He stuck the Z in places that I would never have the nerve to put it. I particularly liked the pick he pulled on the orange porsche....slick move & great guess. That big Merc was trying for all it had to stay infront, too.

What struck me was the amount of wheel spin that Z was generating off of some of the slower speed exits....wonder what his laps would be like with some sticker tires?

Any ideas who owns/racing the car? That would be great to find out more about the car...would make a great magazine or newsletter feature.

Stupendously ragged driving - he uses the throttle and brakes like on-off switches.
Check the Southwest link later; I'll be at Hallett to show y'all how it should be done.

I think the thing on the dash is a g-meter - useless for hot laps because you don't have time to look at it.

Remember: slow in, fast out.

Yeah Glenn, I don't think he's a pro but I sure wish there were more ZR-1 racing vids like this around to enjoy. I would love to take a few lessons from you glenn. What are your plans for that 67 427(I believe) classic gem in your garage? That thing is so sweet and super collectable. While I was eating all of that wonderfull food in your garage I couldn't help but keep staring at it.

the guy might not be that good but he does have the guts of a burgelur . he did a nice pick job on the porsche. i like how at the start he let them pass him and use up their tires then picked them off .i wonder what the benz driver thought when all he saw was yellow in the mirror along with a BIG TEETH GRIN . then of course just listening to her rev . too bad i have snow on the ground .

Brad, I was kind of thinking that he just came from the pit out?

I had thought that it seemed that he over cooked a few corners at the entry point....but since I've never had my Z on a track I didn't feel I had any standing to critique his effort. The pick on the porsche was fair game IMHO, and the pass on the Merc could have been that the guy in the Merc wanted no part of "the mad man coming up on him"...?

Becareful Brad, HPDE's and / or track days can be more addictive than crack. MHO, road racing is waaaaay more abusive to a car than 1/4 mile work. Specially when you are using a street car to do the road work.

JMHO. I have no hard experience with an LT5, but I question the long term effects of cornering G's on the oiling system's performance with respect to pick-up starvation. I saw first hand what track days did to my 72 LT-1's drive train. I also have a group of crusin buds that have become addicted to track days. These guys are using mostly C5's and C6's. There has been some carnage in their ranks with their LSx motors, except for the C6 ZO6 guys. They don't yet seem to have had trouble, maybe it's the oiling system in the LS7?

I wanna go with them in the worst way, if for nothing else than to get the instruction and all the knowledge that the instructors wanna pass on.....but I know me, I'll get addicted and be worried about the motor...heck the whole car would worry me.
