Staging the P&P

My Craftsman die-grinder has one speed - wide open. If I buy something that is variable, I'd like to go pneumatic, if my compressor could keep up. I prefer to go large abrasive drums for the yeoman's work, and limit the carbide cutter as much as possible - harder to control, ya know Would Northern Tool be a good place to get the P&P stuff here in Chicagoland, and where would I beg, steal or borrow a 36mm ball gauge?

One more question...any idea where I would get the plugs to fill the holes left by the secondary throttle plate rod?

Paul any foose ball is 35mm.....thats what I used, not hard to guess what an extra mm is.....get the ball to flow through smoothly that that should be sufficient.

Paul,

You could go to Harbor Freight and buy a variable control for the die grinder.
That's what I have. About $20. Well worth it.
May want to check McMaster Carr for the ball gauge.
As Lee said, foosball is 35mm. You'll want to grind in several stages rather than trying to grind out directly to 36mm. Read up on Locobob's work which appears excellent.

Dorman Freeze plugs 555-108. Think mine came from NAPA.

Paul,

I just took the throttle plates off the shaft and left everything else where it was. Zip tied the secondary canisters full open so the shafts are 90d to the runner. BTW, you'll need your calibration modded if secondaries will be inoperative. Give me a shout on that.

I have 35,36 and 36.5mm steel balls,man i have alot of balls
I need 37mm.
Paul if you go shopping and find a 37mm steel ball buy it and i'll pay you for it.

Freeze plugs are the ones mentioned by lbszr1.

I get most of my stuff from either J&L,Mcmaster.

Do like Dom said one step at a time, 35mm first then 36mm.
