Hesitates a little - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

I have noticed that when I am down to about 2.5-3.0 gallons of gas the car will hesitate like it isn't getting any fuel. This is the only time it happens. My car is completely stock except for the Corsa aftermarket exhaust.

Any suggestions?

Not to be smart, but perhaps keep more fuel in it? Does it just hesitate when you get on it a bit? It could be the gas sloshes away from the pickup too easily. The few times I ran my previous '87 to fairly low, it would do that. I never ran out of gas because the car would start to hesitate under mild-moderate acceleration due to the gas sloshing away, which of course had me going to the gas station post-haste!

No offense taken, and I first noticed it under hard acceleration and then as I slowed down it would do it off and on. My thought was the same as yours, besides keeping more gas in it

, that the fuel was sloshing around. I am just hoping it is not a larger problem.

My 93 does the same thing, I started to fill up @ 1/4 tank after.

I wouldn't let the tank get that low. Not good for the pumps

Could be your pickup is not low enough or it could be water that has settled in the tank. You might want to throw a bottle of dry gas in.

My 84 will fuel starve at 1/4 tank on left hand rapid acceleration ie burnout while turning left from a stop sign. Right hand not a problem!!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions!! I guess I am still used to my daily driver where I can drive it on fumes if I have to, which is unusual.

Jim,

That is an unfortunate problem with the ZR-1s. You can drive them until they are on fumes, but it is not very good for the pumps.
