Intermittent digital display in the dash
i have a 93 ZR-1 with a digital display that seems to be on the fritz. no speedo or fuel gauge when this happens. not sure what could be causing this. has anyone seen or heard of this happening? it seems to work fine for a several days and then it will stop working for a day or more and then will come back for several days. the rate at which it comes and goes seems far to spead out to be an electrical short. all the fuses are good...

Any other functions not working correctly? Cycling through the oil temp, coolant temp etc?

Re: Intermittent digital display in the dash
Could be a connection issue with the wiring or a possibility of the LCD panel going nuts.
Would have to have the panel and run some tests on it to verify for sure. |

Re: Intermittent digital display in the dash
It's about a 30-45 minute job to pull the panel out.

Re: Intermittent digital display in the dash
Make a "U" shape out of the paper clip. Hook one end into the A port on the ALDL and the other end into the G port. Turn the key to the "run" position. This will enable you to enter the CCM diagnostics. The CCM will automatically start cycling through the modules and codes with pauses in between each one. It will give you this information where the digital speedo is.

Re: Intermittent digital display in the dash
From what I'm hearing, the displays suffer from failure due to cold solder joints. Pull the display and carefully look for crystallized solder joints and re-solder with a small iron (if you're really brave). Else send it to
http://www.instrumentclusters.com/ for repair. They got my 91 L98 car's working fine after I got tired of fooling around with it for many years. Wifey is happier now that she can see the gas gauge.
