Automotive Performance International, Inc. Cold Air Intake?
For those of you that have been around the Z and Corvettes for a long time. My Z came with an air intake that appears to be a CAI manufactured by Automotive Performance International, Inc. Does anyone have knowledge about this intake or company? I can't find information on it, but I did find a company with this name that appears to not exist any longer and maybe was in existence for only a few years (company started in 1990). I recently replaced the stock cover with an open cover and starting to wonder if this is a rare CAI intake. Thanks. Last edited by HAWAIIZR-1; 12-12-2009 at 01:07 PM. Reason: add pictures back in |

Never heard of them. They probably went under because cai did not work.

With all the "improvements" you are doing how about replacing the black clamp assembly with a shiney stainless one? Anyone out there have a contact on the "long" clamp assembly needed?

Re: Automotive Performance International, Inc. Cold Air Intake?
I have one of those, although not installed it.
I just got mine this year for $50 WITH a precut shroud.. It si brand new. I figured for $50 I will try it.. I had a similar style one on my 89 made by TPiS which was nice too. This pulls air from underneath like the Breathless performance one, but seems better quality. As far is increases, I would hope maybe 1 to 2 HP, but for me it was worth the $50 to try..

Thanks for the replies except for one.
Carter, I found a source for the clamps and will call them to place my order tomorrow. Thanks! |

Re: Automotive Performance International, Inc. Cold Air Intake?
I have one on my yellow car. They were marketed under a different name if I remember correctly. If either of you don't want it anymore, I'll take it. Jeff, especially yours with the radiator shroud cut already. Some/most say no difference but I like the cool air idea and I don't plan to drive my car in the rain.
I've been looking for another for a while. If anyone knows of one please let me know. Ted |

I'll be hanging on this this as my shroud is already butchered. I might start looking for a stock shroud in case I decide to try a different intake. Thanks for the info. |
