Default Twin Turbo Update

Dropped the Twin Turbo off yesterday at the Fab guy's shop in Long Beach, CA. It was a 300 mile drive to the shop and then I flew back. I was challenged by a few Mustang GT’s but I was able to keep my cool. That’s probably one of the biggest challenges I’ve had to overcome in a while…

The Fab guys are starting right away so we hope to have pipes for 10 systems by 15 July. Keep your fingers crossed for us…

BG update:

We had some teething pains at BG, namely we couldn’t get over 3 psi of boost. We thought it was the Air horn seal but it ended up being a coupler under the car. It was loose and dumped most the pressure overboard. We tightened it back up and we now have the full 10 psi. We went ahead and put the 12 psi spring in the waste gate and added the new fuel pumps. Rumor from the speed shop, dyno sheet to follow that she’s around 675 at the tires…

We also did a leak down and compression check which passed with flying colors. We did this to make sure we didn’t damage anything at BG without a full tune and no boost. Thank goodness for that!

The only other problem we had was over filling the oil system. Because it was overfilled, after a high rpm run it would dump oil out the fresh air tubes on the CAM covers. We had them disconnected to keep boost out of the crankcase. Hence the “smoke show” at the big end… Since then I’ve done lots of runs with the oil at the right level without a problem.

Now I just can't wait for her to get back.

Cheers,
Ron

675?!

That sounds like a hell of a ride to me! BTW... I loved how your setup looked at BG, now I can't wait to see it in action!

Here's wishing you guys 'good luck' with the last bits of the system and to getting all the little bugs out!

All I can say is that's some honkin' system you guys have developed. Can't wait to see the dyno sheet at 10 psi.....

no sir, this is with a built low compression engine.

10 psi will NOT work on a stock LT5, don't try this at home

this combination will likely take quite a bit of boost on pump gas and really haul the mail on a race gas tune (but why go there, it will make well over 700 on pump gas and hooking that will be tough as is)

kukos Ron, thanks for the rides at BG. the turbo ZR-1 is one amazing vehicle.

thanks for all your and Jerry's efforts to make it a reality.

as the song says, "the beast is ready to devour"

see if you guys remember that one! clue, it was a sound track.

10 pounds....lol....turn that biatch up to 25 psi atleast...common!!!! I'm bumping my little black pickup to 30 after I wire my wide band in for 3bar/tuner pro and I know you wanna crank that Z's boost up. Boost is worse then being addicted to drugs or sex.......you know the negative consequences.....crank it up baby!

good luck with the new setup...

Next you'll be changing your user name to "addicted 2 boost"...
