England, Lotus and LT5
This past September a group of us Lotus Elise and Exige drivers went to England and visited Hethel where Lotus is located...played around on the track with the Lotus racing guys and had a great time. Also we went to a incredibly special and wonderful event called Goodwood Revival which is a world class 3 day event bringing in vintage cars from around the world. This was not only a show, but honest serious racing of very rare vintage cars... here is the paddock area showing a few from a 1000 automotive pieces of history that showed up>>
These are originals not replicas Note the driver's signature And of course could not miss a connection of Lotus and similarities of the LT5 program>> I really love the Lotus connection to the LT5... Michael |

awesome, thanks for sharing=D> , lots of expensive haircuts there. Speed channel always had some Goodwood footage but i don't recall seeing any from the last year? i thought it would usually air in the fall. i hope they didn't do away with it.

I'm not a Ford guy by any means, but those GT40's in Gulf colors are awesome. Thanks for the pics, any more?

Re: England, Lotus and LT5
More pics...sure...and the event is well and alive! 125,000+ attended and is growing... another cool aspect is that the Duke (yep real Duke) does the whole event on his custom built 3 mile race track and has his own airfield. Those who know him said he sorta stuck in the 1940's era so at the Goodwood Revival event all are asked to come in period clothing. Very strange feeling like you almost can believe you are back in WWII England...here you are watching this grid>>
and then be at the end of Lavant Straight>> and the these take off and fly right over you>>> (for those non aero types... a P51 (off the frame right giving chase to two Spitfires) Also notice the ruffled grass and tire marks...about an hour earlier a at least $5M++ 1938 Mercedes Benz W125 Rennwagen kissed the tire wall... Here is the Stang on the ground...it is a D version and has a Packard supercharged V12! One last one... the Lotus paddock area The event occurs every September and if you ever have the chance to go...DO IT!! Michael Last edited by ZR1Vette; 01-28-2008 at 09:20 AM. |

Re: England, Lotus and LT5
That would be an awesome event to see! I just can't imagine wrecking one of those priceless cars! I wonder what that Mercedes guy was thinking when his car went out of control... "Oops, there goes $5 million!"
