Default Clutch time

What are the opinions of the lords of Z as to clutch preference?

Stock,
Centerforce,
Spec,
Beck?
other?

The throwout bearing will need to be changed in mine, and I'm guessing that I will just change the clutch while I'm at it.

Oh, and add an aluminum flywheel and put the hurst shifter in at the same time.

Buy a spung hub LT-1 Camaro clutch disc. It really helps in reducing the clatter from the ZF when in neutral. I bought mine from SLP. Not sure they offer one anymore tho.

Bill B: Good guy report!!

Bill provided me with a new ZF and modified it with matched synchro springs and by opening up the oil galleries (to assure the reverse gear does not starve...again...a common problem with the ZFs, accoring to Bill).

I got the new transmission, all the work done and shipped for $2650 (ish). His web site has a ton of good info, not only on the ZF, but on the clutch maintenance and repair as well.

check it out -

You don't need anything wild or exotic. There are guys with stroker motors running around on the stock set up.

You should still be able to get the stock LUK pressure plate assembly from either Bill B www.zfdoc.com or go and talk to Tom @ Carolina Clutch.

I talked to Bill a day ago. He recommended going with Carolina Clutch.

No problem, Ken. I used jack stands (up pretty high) and
removed my trans when I had to get a new one from Bill B.
Warning- the trans is surprisingly heavy. A Bit*h to lower,
and a Bit*h to maneuver to re-install. And be careful with
the pilot bearing/rear engine seal.
