Z caught on fire!!!!!
im batting a thousand lately .....what can go wrong...Does go wrong!!!
took the Z out for a super run ..got here to about 167mph a couple of nights ago.she was running great!!,got her home with no problems, but it sounded like it had a small exhuast leak. the next day took her for a 5 min run to grab a coffee, the leak started to sound really nice...kind old school. anyways, once i got it home i went to lift the hood to see if maybe i blew the hose off the back of the plenem, before i could open the hood smoke started pouring out from under the hood. popped the hood to see flames on the pass side rear. paniced for a second then ran for the fire extinguisher.cover the engine but smoke was still coming out of my vents. grabed the garden hose and hosed it down..still smoking, checked the fuse panel on the pass side,it looked good. as i was in the car i noticed my carpet melting on the tranny tunnel. ripped the carpets to find that the three bolts were missing on the header flange, blew out the gasket, and caught the fiberglass on fire. got the fire out ,but now im left with a hole about 8 inches by 4. thank God nothing happened to her other then a melted hole. easy fix, could have been alot more serious. now i have a bit more then waxing to to before Aug 24. wanted to cry,but still smiling Adam

Re: Z caught on fire!!!!!
Wow! Hearing your story kind of reminds me of riding my Harley years ago. Anytime you took a Harley on the road, it was a given to check all the nuts & bolts as some would invaribly come loose.
I'm fortunate enough to have a lift which allows me the opportunity to check things easier. Think I'll go check my header flange bolts because I know they're a little too short and are not the easiest to get a wrench on. Maybe longer ones, double nutted??
