Default Price of A mold rims?

Currently trying to find a set of A mold ZR-1 rims. I realize there is only so many with the 36mm backspacing but I also don?t want to overpay. So far I could buy a set that needs repair and refurbished (quote of $1200) for $500 and a set of perfect chrome for $2200. What do you think of the pricing? Thanks.

Honestly, it depends on the look you want. If original, $500 for a set is not bad, if they don't have a lot of curb rash and are true. If chrome is the direction you are headed, and those are available and in good shape, then that may be a great deal. When I started my project ZR-1 eight years ago, I stumbled upon a set of A-Molds in reality good shape for $700! Sometimes you get lucky, but I am always patient.

The real ones don't seem to show up very often these days. Usually the (very good) replicas from the now defunct AFS wheels.

I bought a set of GM ZR1 near-mint A-molds for ~$800+shipping a few months ago, but I think I was an incredible score. The nice gentlemen I dealt with was returning his non-ZR1 to stock and wanted to come out even from the wheels he had to purchase to go back to stock.

'Ok' GM sets seem to be $1,000+ with real cherry ones trying to get $1,500+. If you don't mind refinishing and have a local powder coating shop, you may be able to save a few bucks. My lock powder coater now offers wheel straightening and lip repair services in house.
