Fuel Pumps/Sending Unit
Ah the joy of Ownership!!!
Believe my fuel pump(s) are going out. Ordered the Walbro replacement from Lingenfelter and picked up a new K&N Fuel Filter. No indication of a sending unit issue, which is good as they appear to be difficult to find, but thought while I am doing the fuel pumps I might as well see if I can replace the Sending Unit as well. As I am waiting on the Walbro, for those who have had to or opted to replace the sending unit, where did you find one or is there a substitute that can be used? |

Re: Fuel Pumps/Sending Unit
I recall reading Marc Heibeck?s ?how to? adopt either standard C4 or generic fuel sender onto LT5 fuel pump assembly. May be someone here can help you find the article or post.

Re: Fuel Pumps/Sending Unit
It?s on Marc?s website - ZR1Specialist.com.
http://www.zr1specialist.com/HAT%20W...l%20System.htm. At least that is the one I know about. I had an original one renewed by a company that specialized in renewing antique gauges for cars, etc. I think I used Bob?s Speedometer, somewhere in lower Michigan. Was working well last I saw it.

Thank you both. I'll head over to Marc's site and check it out. Appreciate the indication!

Re: Fuel Pumps/Sending Unit
I converted one of mine to a single pump setup. I followed Marc's writeup and it performs flawless as does the fuel gauge. You can get a good quality new sender for a base car from Rockauto. I'm running their unit in one of my LT4 cars and a zr-1. Add the pump of your choice, a little reversable wiring and your all set. Planning to do it again in another of my zr-1s shortly. Marc can also repair the original sender if you want to send it in.

Re: Fuel Pumps/Sending Unit
Tackled this today...two new Airtex Fuel Pumps E3420 and a new K&N Fuel Filter PF-1000. Wasn't as much of a job as I had thought it was going to be...thankfully!!! LOL Seems to be running just fine now. Will give it a bit more of a drive tomorrow and confirm that all is working without issue.

Re: Fuel Pumps/Sending Unit
I remember some years ago needing to replace a fuel pump in my 91..the original GM part # for the Corvette fuel pump at a local dealer was very expensive...after searching elsewhere someone on the site said to check out the same part number on a Suburban fuel pump. Went back to dealer...sure enough same part number for both vehicles...considerably cheaper to buy the one for the Suburban
