Capping the coolant line to plenum
Curious as to methods used by forum members for capping or plugging the coolant line which runs along the intake plenum in the passenger side and f the engine. I am having my injector housings tapped and plugged so no more coolant through the plenum. I would like to keep all lines in place for the factory appearance. I am wondering if someone has already done this. What I had in mind was say a piece of 3/8 aluminum dowel rod pressed into the coolant hose coming off the surge tank with several hose clamps on that portion of hose to create the plug. I would have this rod pressed into the hose far enough that I could still fit the hose to the hard line off the plenum to secure.
If someone has done this, I would like to hear the details or pictures. |

Re: Capping the coolant line to plenum
I capped mine with pipe plugs, no factory hoses. Marc does not recommend making the plenum coolant free.

Re: Capping the coolant line to plenum
For clarification? Are you referring to capping off the coolant to the throttle body, or are you talking about something else? Like Steve, (and dozens of others) a 3/8" pipe plug - drilled and tapped into the injector housing coolant port leading to the pipe (driver's side) that goes to the throttle body, is a common mod. It prevents the TB from heating the air which results (theoretically) in denser air/more power. AND, you don't have to drain the coolant before removing the plenum - which simplifies the whole coolant juggling routine to ZERO fussing.
Note: FWIW...I've had mine plugged for 12 years now and have NEVER had any regrets.
