Ok guys, yes there is still snow on the ground in MN, but I'm already thinking spring.
I'm wondering, when I go to start my old 'vette, I DON'T give it any gas and I hit the key a few times for a few seconds each. That has the effect on my carbureted car of spinning the motor with no ignition, and letting the oil pressure come up before starting. Can I do something similar on the ZR-1? Chris |

Yes you can. Floor the gas pedal and keep it there while turning the engine over. This feature was designed to clear a flooded engine but works equally well to turn the engine over without starting it. I also use it when running compression testing.

Thanks! I'm assuming that works on all years of ZR-1s? I have a '94.

Sounds like it would be a good way to do a cold start after Winter storage?

Some like to start their stored cars every week or so.
I’m a fan of only 1 cold/hard start at the end of storage. Why subject the motor to several of them. The WOT method at initial turnover makes this even better. The jackstands? That’s debatable... |

Exactly what I was thinking. All of the oil has drained down off the motor in the last 5 months. Startup is always the hardest "wear point" for an engine. Not enough oil pressure immediately on startup, and a relatively high demand.
