Default 2020 Vette preview

My wife Lisa and I got to actually "touch" the new 2020 C8!

The car was at Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, Texas as part of a national tour to preview the model. There was a long line of hundreds and we waited 90 minutes for a 5 minute walk around. I got to sit in the drivers and passenger seats and get a quick look. There was a lot of people so unfortunately the experience was rushed.

According to the reps, the strike will not slow production scheduled to begin in December. Also the 2020 model is "sold out" with no more orders being taken.

The car is a big departure but still feels very "Corvette-ty". The center bar with all the controls will be a big difference and the bar "encroaches" on the passenger seating area; you arm will get squished a bit.

I would have loved to spent more than a few minutes but it really was a "cattle call". Still, super cool car!

Thanks for sharing your preview! Great looking car! So, assuming you were in the market for another Vette, would you buy one?

Look at you Bill! That grin tells me your a future owner.. I too hope to get one in a few years..

Is the darkened white leather the result of lots of dirty butts sliding in and out of the seats? Hard to keep white clean I'm sure.

Thanks for the pictures!

Yep, I have one on order. March-ish is what I've been told for delivery.

I skipped out on Classic yesterday after hearing they had over 4K people signed up to be there. I'll try Huffines on Tuesday, which hopefully will be less busy and allow for more time with the car.

I'm still really on the fence on if I want one. I was initially very excited, but I'm having a hard time with it not having a manual. I love daily driving my '15 Z51 manual, and just don't know if I want to give up shifting for myself (with clutch and stick). On top of that, the center button stack seems like it's going to be really bad for the passenger, and don't want a disgruntled wife. Then there's the doors, which seem like they are going to require a LOT of room to open with the scoop portion on them. Of course those things may be outweighed if they finally bring back a DOHC motor that revs to 7500-8000rpm.

The front engine/manual is gone forever...just like the air cooled Porsche.
The C8 will depreciate more in one year Than the value of my ‘91 ZR-1. I have owned 3 C7’s and can tell u it is the real deal...but
I still sold my ‘17 Z06 in March in anticipation for the C8...I have one on order. It is beautiful and a game changer but my ZR-1 is still the “King of the Hill”!
After all the hoopla, I am now inclined to cancel it...
