A funny squeaky sound
Not a squirrel I hope. I have a squeaky sound from under the hood that starts shortly after start up and starts off with long intervals (several seconds) between squeaks then progressively the squeak intervals become shorter the longer the engine is ran until it's a constant chirp. Any suggestions on where this may be coming from? I replaced the belt less than a 1000 miles ago.

Re: A funny squeaky sound
Was the noise what prompted the belt to be replaced, or did it occur afterwards?
What belt did you use? Marty |

Re: A funny squeaky sound
Had same issue belt less then 1000 miles changed tensioner, idler still had the squeak.
It was dry belt low miles but 4 years old. If you want to find out if it's the belt spray lil Armor All or equivalent on the belt if squeak goes away it's belt issue. Make sure it's not one of your accessories. Pete

Re: A funny squeaky sound
I’ve had a similar issue. Squeak begins at start up altho it increases fairly quickly. It persists and then starts to fade as I get to operating temps, then disappears. I’ve swapped tensioners and pulleys more than once. Alternator is a rebuilt Delco unit w about 5-8k miles on it. If I push on pulley, noise disappears.
The one thing I have not swapped yet is the belt altho it is fairly new.

Sounds like when its cold, the grease is tight/thick and when it warms up its flowing easier and the nose goes away.
