Default Injector Cleaning Additive

Is there a recommendation for an injector cleaning additive that can be added to the gas tank maybe once a year. I recall reading in the last century that it was not recommended at he time.

Funny you should mention that...I added this to my tank a few months ago..

Was not having any problems but figured as an added maintenance maybe twice a year at the most..

I used to put a bottle of Techron Chevron anually for the daily driver, but with today's Ethanol blended fuel, probably enough detergent action.

I do use STARTRON in everything I own, buying the diesel formulation gets more ounces per gallon treatment for the extra few bucks, and its actually no different from the gasoline formula.

I do like what I see on youtube about Seafoam, haven't used it much except for the jetskis, they seem to like it.

During the driving seasons, I have NEVER used anything but top tier (93 octane). Never a problem in 16 years with any of the occasionally driven Vettes...NONE.

But, come winter...

The ONE year I didn't put an additive in the tank, I had goo plugging the jets of my (Valkyrie) motorcycle, AND standby generator - come spring.

I had similar issues in spite of (or because of??) Stabil (sp?) in my mower, and standby generator, leaf blower, pressure washer, and string trimmer. (My small engine mechanic told me to NEVER use Stabil. Use Sea Foam instead.)

I used to put a pint of Sea Foam in each of the Vette's tanks in the fall. But, because I make it a point to start them once a month all winter long, I've never had an issue, long as the tanks were filled with fresh fuel before storing them. So, for the last 5 winters, I didn't use anything in the tanks. They ALL fire right up and idle - as well as expected (given the cam overlap of a couple of 'em!).

And, as a rule, I don't shut the fuel off on the mower or other small engines when storing over winter. That way the fuel will NOT evaporate in the carb jetting - and a little Sea Foam is in there for good measure...

So...

Sea Foam (winter storage insurance policy) in the small motors, and leave the fuel petcock open to prevent fuel from evaporating in the carbs(!).

No additives in the Vettes. A full tank of fresh (E10 ethanol) fuel in the fall, coupled with once a month starting/warming has worked fine for 8 years in a row.

Now, my bigger worry is RODENTS during winter storage. (I hates mieses to pieces!)

Your mileage may vary!

Last year I was at a local Vettes only show at a Chevy dealer in Md with a few WAZOO guys. Attending the show was a 92 (Ithink) with 2,000 miles on it purchased brand new. The owner (sorry can't remember his name right now) told a story that he had let loose two snakes in his garage to address the rodent concern. However, snakes would eat a couple and then ingnore rodents until they got hungry again which did not address his concern effectively.

Since this thread is about fuel system additive, I use to add BG-K44 in the tank once a year 'till about 2 years ago. May be just psychological but seemed to make the motor run even smoother... A few mechanic friends of mine runs this stuff when carbon build up is suspected.

Sure would be nice to be able to buy 93 out west, only 91 available or race gas

I run Amsoil in the Vette at the end of the season. Never any issues. I also always put it in my 5 gallon can for the small engines around. Like Paul said "Your mileage may vary"
