Default 3 days at Ron Fellows Corvette driving school

Just got back from a three day level one performance driving school in Las Vegas....Got to drive a 2015 Z-51 Corvette on a 2.1 mile track for three days..What a rush !!!!

This was my first performance driving school and I have to say, the accommodations and the food was top notch....The place was immaculate for having three different race tracks surrounding it...

The instructors are all relatively young and seem very enthusiastic about there teaching.....First day was getting yourself familiar with the stingray, up shifts, downshifts, braking, wet braking, high speed braking, figure eights etc...

When it came to track time they had four of us follow the instructor in a lead car, fourth gear all around the track....This was done many times....When you were behind the instructor he would speak to you from his car, the sound was piped in through the radio of the car...

Second day consisted of higher speed and third and fourth gear shifts ....Therec was no speed limit ,drive within your means and safely was expressed throughput the day....

Third day, your on your own, with them just supervising you from outside the race track.....No speed limit !!!!....Ten cars on the track at one time, passing was allowed but had to be initiated through the radio first.....Two spots to pass, the long straight and the inside straight....

A good time around the track is around 1:30......Hands nine and three on the wheels and I have to say it's quite a rush.....On the straight you can get it iup to 110-115 , more experienced 120-125......

Never did something like that and I highly recommend it.....I actually won this trip when I was in Carlisle last August when I was with the ZR-1 registry.....They also gave me five hundred in cash to offset my plane fare.....Trip was well worth it......Wasn't looking to set any speed records, just looking to stay safe , learn and have a good time...

Sounds like a great time, something you will never forget.....
Did they do any pics or videos of you driving? If so, post them up, would enjoy seeing them....

I would like to if I can figure out how to do it....Seems like the corvette forum is much easier to post photos......The track does have an observation tower where people can snap photos of the cars in action......They should build one when your coming down the long straight......There are ten turns on the race track....The last one is right before the long straight, your in third coming off that turn at around 30 MPH than you floor it...Third to fourth at around 6,000-6,500 RPM......If you come off that turn good you can reach 120 or so.....Since I'm no pro I was around 105-112, than you have to start braking as you go into a long sweeping turn one...

If you have a photobucket account, it is very easy to post pics. That is what I use to post pics on the forums. Just copy the link for whatever particular pic you want from your photobucket account and then paste right in your thread or post. I am sure the other photo services available operate the same way.

That would be a wild pic or video as your coming out of the turns and accelerating up to speed. Great wall art at its best!!!

I went to Ron Fellows last September for a two day Corvette driving school as a result of buying a new Z06 in 2016. Part of the purchase deal is that GM underwrites about 2/3 the cost of the school, so I paid only $1,000 for two days on the track, including meals and a one night stay there. My experience was great as Vette73 said. Quality cars and instructors, and for the school I went to you drive what you own: If you have a base Stingray with a stick shift, you drive one of those. If you have a Z06 automatic (like mine), you drive one of those. If you buy a new Corvette I would strongly urge you to go. With the power of the new Z06. I felt it was extremely important to spend time on track with instructors to allow me to explore the car's limits. (My exploration of limits was a long way from the actual limits). It is hard to do so on the street with these cars. I would recommend the school to anyone interested in Corvettes and track driving.--Bob

Gave a poster-sized picture like the one below to the grandkids for Xmas. This is me:
