Default keyless entry

Did anyone buy a c5 key fob or something and connect it to our car? is that possible or does a whole alarm have to be connected?

I don't think that is really feasible to do. The old GM VKE1000 kit was a universal keyless entry kit that had a GM styled remote. I had one on my 89, kit was around $100 when they were available.

I have a DEI Valet kit on my ZR-1, essentially the SAME kit as the VKE1000, a couple slight differences and different remote fobs.. I paid $35 for it and then installed it myself

I have seen that the VKE1000 kit is still around but it is NOS.

How difficult is it to install? I would rather have GM looking remotes vs. aftermarket ones.

Since PKE wasn't available till 93 from the factory whatever you have wont be factory anyway. Just get a viper remote entry system without the alarm. It will be in your pocket most of the time who will ever know. I have run that option in 3 c4's to date without a problem. The PKE system from the factory was nothing but problems.

this is geared towards a 89-older, but will help

http://www.batee.com/corvette/keylessentry/

up to you to make the difficulty decision as I don't know you skill set for installing these. I have installed 4 or 5 alarms and a couple entry kits so it was not bad to me

yeah something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Directed-Elec...=1&*entries*=0

or if you want PKE:
https://www.amazon.com/DEI-Passive-A...=1&*entries*=0

EDIT: the 2101L is essentially the VKE-1000.. I mean the wiring is 98% the same. for a fraction of the price. I have that same one, but an older model with older remotes. The trunk button on mine says Aux, I don't have it connected currently, as I use the second pulse of the Unlock for the Hatch release. I might rewire it for the aux wire though

the first one you posted looks great for $35. I had a 94 with the passive keyless entry, it annoyed the **** out of me whenever i stood by or washed/worked on my car
