Default HID driving lights

With LED headlights installed, driving lights looked like a pair of candles. So, I decided to try out a pair of HID driving lights. Tried LEDs first, but they did not generate sufficient lumens.

These are 35W ballasts and 5000k color temp. 55W are also available in various color temps.

Cut green driving light ground wire coming out of relay and ground directly to the chassis - Hib's suggestion.

Those look like they work awesome.

Where were they purchased?

Hidkitlights.com. This kit seems very similar to corvettemods.com kit.

I had been thinking about trying some LEDs for the driving lights.

Which ones did you try?

One of those ebay $35 LEDs. Just wasn't bright enough.

I've installed the HID "fog lights" too (fr Corvette Mods). First time I drove with them at night was on a country road, and I didn't even turn on my LED headlights; the HID driving lights were enough. These, and the LED headlights are awesome mods for C4s.

For those that have difficulty accessing the "green wire" coming of the fog light relay socket (it's not easy to get at), I wrote up a short description under the heading of GE Nighthawk LED headlight replacement here on the Registry. You just have to pop the relay and cut the terminal on the relay that plugs into the socket to which the green wire is attached. You can then run a wire from what is left of the cut terminal on the relay to ground. If you ever want to go back to stock (for reasons I would not understand), you simply replace the relay; all factory wiring remains in place.
