Default Air pump....Should I remove it?

Every time I start my engine I have to hear this run, of course it shuts down around 10-20 seconds depends....

I guess you would call it the smog pump..I guess I can find it if I looked but where exactly is it located? Can I just remove it, or is there a kit I have to buy to replace it? I'm sure it's a horsepower robber, of course not a lot but, is it neccessry ?

Had the car dynoed today...Put down 382 RWHP at 7,000 RPM....Torque was anywhere from 347-350 rear wheel at 7,000..

Car does have a hic cup at 3,000 RPM when you lean into the throttle, slight, but you feel it....Mechanic could not feel it on the dyno....Fuel pressure was good and the tune seems fine...

The torque figures were a little erratic...My wires may need changing...They do look a little old but they are not factory ( car has 43,000 miles) Also going to swap out plugs.....Lets hope it clears the slight hic cup..

You can eliminate the Air Pump with NO Codes. The Air Pump only functions on a cold start.

Air pump or vacuum pump? I don't think I ever heard my air pump run.

There's quicker way to disable that air pump... But! Take it from me, unplugging it might be your better option

The air pump does not cost you any HP. I did away with mine years ago, has no effect on smog testing. Like already stated it only runs at startup.

I hope this is not a new one. Is this the time when you were drag racing?

I don't think off roading was his original intent ... but Paul has surprised me more than once

One thing that impresses me with Paul's driving skills is his willingness to maximize the throttle while ignoring the brakes
