Default A question about Snapon MT 2500 scanner.

I'm thinking about looking into one of these. The average prices seem to be around $300-$350. One question is does a complete setup come will all of the cartridges, I've seen some of the cartridges alone going for $250+ for a pair. If some of the cartridges need to be purchased in addition to a complete setup which ones will I need? Thanks.

Jeff I have/use the snap-on mt2500 scanner, if you want to drive a hour south we can scan your car and see how it works. I have all the cartages, adapters and books. The "black" cartages are a reprogrammable/updateable cartages that are expensive to buy/update [I do not have one] I use the "red" cartages that are not updateable.

Thank you so much for the offer but other than occasional ABS light I don't really need the scanner right now it just would be nice to have one now that the prices are coming down. Thanks again,Jeff.

I'm not Z51JEFF, but my answer might be to look at sensor values in real time, and maybe do some data logging to review later.

Russ, if that is what you are looking for, there are cheaper alternatives

I'm all ears, Jeff. I bought an MT2500 off ebay b/c my AutoXray is no longer supported (apparently), and tho there's nothing wrong w/ the scanner I have now, I haven't been able to get anyone to quote me a price for upgrading the PC software to Windows 7 (Windows XP was the last revision, and ham-fisted as it is, it was good enough to ID a particularly elusive issue I had once)

Not my thread; don't mean to steal it, so I'll just say I've got this nice Snap-On paperweight that I'd really like to use. OR, somebody tell me what better to use?

No problem Paul, any and all info is welcome. I'm a little confused here-that's a shocker-is the AUTOXRAY and the Snapon scanner 2 devices you have or is this only one device? My point is I'd hate to spend $350 on a scanner only to have to continue to buy the cartridges I need. If all the basic cartridges come with a Snapon 2500,cartridges that will work for the basics then that's all I need. Why would some of these cartridges be going for $250 when an entire setup can be bought for $350,somebody think they are sitting on gold? Thanks to all for any info on this. Would like to buy asap but l need some more info.
