My New Ride
I'm the new proud owner of 1995 #386, red/red, 2 tops & Dunns, 22K mi. Car is in transit from NC & will be here by end of month, maybe earlier. Can't wait!
I do have some questions though & would appreciate this boards' able assistance. Tires: both seller & inspector could not find a date code, but they are GY GS-Cs w/22k miles (still decent tread too) & seller thinks they are original. I think most likely NOS, but still need replacing just due to age. Will remove one when it gets here & check other side for dc. From what I've read, seems like the most "correct" replacement is the GY Eagle F1 GS-D3. Any others? Tire Pressure Monitors/Decals: both low tire lights come on in the display panel with ignition turned on. Is it possible system is still working? Assuming tires have to be replaced, without the decals that came on the rims, how do you know where to break the bead without damaging the monitor units? I heard that they are different locations for fronts & rears. I would like to get new decals, but have seen some outrageous prices online ($22+shp EACH)-any sources? And where to place them? Any recommendations on a Corvette friendly tire shop in San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles area) that know these things? I'm gonna check with my local guy anyway. I think you will like this: the original owner, in anticipation of eventual driver seat wear, ordered a complete back section for replacement & it's still in factory wrap. Windshield is in good shape with some delam around the sides & top, but nothing that impairs vision. Thx!! Last edited by Silverfox1; 07-22-2015 at 01:49 AM. |

Re: My New Ride
Check with Wheel Enhancement in regards to care with the wheels in having new tires mounted, they are down there in Anaheim I think. If inflated prices for a thing ZR-1 related scare you, sell the car now before you get too attached to it.

Re: My New Ride
Nice looking Z and welcome to the club. It is my understanding that the batteries in the TPMS need to rotate as the wheel moves in order to charge up. The lights on the dash should go out after you have driven a bit. On my 94 they come on at start up and by the time I reach the corner of my street they go out. Enjoy it!

Re: My New Ride
Welcome aboard! Now let's see a pic or two of the actual Z.
I have the GY Eagle 1s on and they look and stick great. Definitely keep those GSCs when you get them changed out. Someone here may want them. Enjoy the ride!!
