I'd prefer to have them made as I don't think they like to be moved around a lot at the age they are. I'd make my own if I can find the parts to do it. I think I stressed the lines when I took off the MC when i changed the motor. No place will make the lines around here that I have even called a place called "corvette brakes"...they only deal in lines up to the c3.
Alternatively, does anyone see an issue with just replacing the lines with pre fab lines from Napa or the like? I've never flared brake lines and I've read that our steel lines can be difficult to splice (I think I would have to lose the existing male fitting on the fitting down stream). thanks sam Last edited by Torchred96; 01-29-2015 at 06:17 AM. |

Hey Buddy. Sorry you are having brake line issues. are these just the short braided lines by the calipers? You might have to hunt around but I am sure they can be had. I am glad your car is alive and kicking and hope to see you soon. Long live Miami ZR1's!! ed ramos #3028 ![]() |

No, the braided lines I'm talking about come directly out of the master cylinder, right after the little U shaped steel lines. They are about 2 feet long and have female fittings at both ends. They must not have liked being moved around while I had the steering column out. I appreciate your concern about having brake issues, but for me, I guess I'm not much different from other DIY guys and look at it as an opportunity to learn, and turn some wrenches too. Since I bought the car, the ABS system has never worked (apparently it was defeated by the PO, but I won't speculate if it was to hide something or just for cost reasons) and so this is the Opportunity to fix it "while I'm in there". The abs, unlike many systems I eliminated (A.I.R.,SPTs, LPTWS to name a few) is not expendable IMHO and if it operates as well as the '96 did, is well worth repairing. I guess I'll start a new thread about my progress or lack thereof ![]() Drop by my house any time..and bring your beautiful Z, so people in my neighborhood know I'm not the only guy obsessed with the c4 zr-1!!! I'm sure I'll hear you before I see ya LOL ![]() Last edited by Torchred96; 01-29-2015 at 06:18 AM. |

Lee, that's great. Looks promising. I will give them a call today.
I'm sure I'll have to give them the fitting sizes and threads. Or, hopefully I can just send them the hose and they can duplicate it. I'll let you know what I find out either way. Thanks! |

"on a hunch", I called classictube.com located in New York, and spoke with Tim in sales who said to box it up and send it to him and he will send me a quote to duplicate it...he then approximated 40 to 45 a piece.
Thanks a bunch LEE! |

Thank you Steve. It's been a fun experience, and I've learned a lot along the way. BG is a few years off for me . Id like to wait until I retire, but what a great trip that would be!! Thank you for everything Steve.
