Default ZR-1's at Mecum Monterey

Anyone watch mecum today? Looks like the z's are getting beat up - White 91 with under 16k miles sold for $14,500, and a black 91 with 18,500 miles was only bid up to $13.5k. Wow.

Mine's getting close to turning over 40k miles. Screw it, I'm gonna start daily driving it and not even worrying about the road film, rain, and all of that.

A few months ago I thought that if I could get $18-$19k for it, that I might let it go...maybe I would sell both vettes and get a c6-Z06. For $14k, I'll just turn this into my outside car and drive it in the rain...it's still fun to drive!

If each of us stepped up and bought up a couple of cars we could run the prices up/now where to store them/a wrecked zr1 sold on flea bay the other day for 11600/go figure

Just drive the damn thing and have fun. All of this strongly suggests you mod the car to your liking and enjoy. Stock, the ZR is a great car. Add another
120-150rwhp to it, and its just a blast while being competitive with 95% of the new stuff for 1/3 of the cost. Not to mention you don't see one every day.

I certainly agree also with Dom. You can get a surprisingly cheap ZR-1 and with a few thousand in service make it just like a new car. I chose a different route--decided that for my second ZR-1 I wanted a low mileage late production 95, paid up for it, then had Marc Haibeck work his magic with the 510 HP package (paid dearly for that but worth every penny). So you can get a $13,000 ZR-1 and have a great time with it. On the other end, if I sold mine at say, $42k, I would lose a ton of dough but someone would get one of the last 40 produced, a low mileage stock car with very special modifications done by the world's premier ZR-1 specialist at half cost plus all the original parts to put back for NCRS judging. So which ever way you want to go--just drive the heck out of it and enjoy what we call the "Permagrin". --Bob

Mecum has usually been pretty weak when it comes to ZR-1s. Even BJ isn't all that great these days. It has to be a special ZR-1 to get any real value relative to the internet prices you see.

Its like the car is becoming a secret again. The last generation of ZR-1s also pushed values down a bit.

I was on here when I first acquired this ZR1 black on Black with original 57 miles on it, Flyin Ryan knew the whole history, unfortunately a lot of documentation was lost, but it still has a veryified history. Have the build sheet, books, etc. I was thinking of 2015 Barrett AA but with Ron Pratt selling his whole collection, I'm not sure. What do you guys think? Trying to get north of 40
