Default Antenna Mast Replace

I resurrected an old three in the tech section, but I kinda hoped for help tonight on removing an antenna mast. I have the instructions, and have removed the nut (after trashing the grommet). How does the mast now come out. It is in the up position. It will not pull out or come out on its own. I cannot see the contact spring described in the instructions.

I have the whole antenna motor mast assembly out and on the bench. How does it come apart? I still can't get the mast out. It looks like it has plastic rivets or something holding the case together.

There's likely a label on the antenna with a part # on it. What is the number on the label? A snapshot of your antenna?

You need to grind the head of the plastic rivets. After service grind down flush and use sheet metal screws to reassemble.

Yep that is what I did as well but still have been lazy and not installed it yet.

That's what I did as well. New one works perfectly.

Hey, I saw you got hammered with storms down there or maybe a tornado a week or so ago. Anywhere near you?

I was at my wits end mashing the grommet from the inside of the car out so the motor would come out...what a pita. I tried to take out the top grommet and it fell apart...so I have the new antenna and grommet coming from mid america, though its backordered. So the wait begins. In the mean time I yanked out my speaker amps, all 4 and am sending them to Dr. Don.

We got some serious T-Storms, but no tornadoes.

I ordered a replacement antenna assembly from Corvette World and they beat the other advertised prices and got it for me the next day. AC Delco part. After researching - I simply decided to replace the whole thing.

Delivered the car to Corey today for a few things and plan on doing the antenna when I get the car back.
